Monicka Koneski, Licensed Massage Therapist

I have been teaching movement now (everything from creative movement for kids to modern dance to therapeutic private yoga classes to many things in between) since 1999. I have also had the honor of being a part of The Bhakti Yoga Movement Center since its inception, and under the gentle and encouraging guidance of Lisa Mae Osborn as well as a number of our other inspired and influential teachers. I have completed more than 500+ hours of yoga education and training, and continue to pursue many avenues of education in the movement and mechanical arts.

When I am not teaching or studying yoga, I am either engaged in my work as a Licensed Massage Therapist where I am able to spend valuable one-on-one time with those who are looking to find ease, presence, and balance in their bodies, or wrapped in love and life lessons with my dear son, Kavi. It is my goal as a bodywork practitioner, anatomy and kinesiology geek, yoga teacher, Mama, and student of bhakti yoga to serve and honor each individual that I encounter, whether on the mat or off, in the best and truest way that I know how. Movement is still endlessly fascinating to me, but it is truly the connection to Self and Source that we may encounter while engaged in yoga practices that has me hooked. Lisa Mae Osborn, M.S., L.Ac. Acupuncture Physical Medicine

I have loved, practiced and taught yoga for more than half my life, and for over 20+ years have been struggling in my own body to understand how to apply this thing that I love, asana, to my particulars. I am grateful for 17+ years of Acupuncture Physical Medicine study and private practice, which has given me unique insight into both the biomechanical and myofascial holding patterns in the physical body as well as the energetic holding patterns in the emotional body. 

In part of my practice, I teach group asana practices, sometimes very large classes. It is a challenge to fit into these classes the therapeutic principles that I am trained in and that I know help hold the body in integrity and clarity, especially for students with injuries, physical quirks, and old holding patterns from pain or athletics. But I aspire to do this well, as well as I can in a public 90-minute class with no time to spare for each individual. 

This is why I love therapeutic private sessions informed by my extensive acupuncture, movement theory and bio-mechanics training. The thrill of the chase, the detective work in examining posture and pattern and working together with the student to unwind these old patters; its positively thrilling to put someone back on the mat after an injury, back into their chosen profession or sport with clarity and ease in their body, and back into their life with heightened awareness and attention. 

I also love to help students dissect and understand and troubleshoot particular postures or groups of postures with clarity, and sometimes a good private class can get us over some perceived or real hurdles to moving forward in posture.

Zeyah Alicia Roge, Somatic Psychotherapist and Licensed Massage Therapist

Meditation, yoga, and other mindful movement modalities, can create actual positive shifts and this influenced my work in the years to come as a social justice activist, massage therapist, and most recently in my work as a somatic psychotherapist. 

I started teaching hatha yoga professionally in 2009, which continues to feed my passion for learning, especially when it comes to the dynamism of the body and mind, relationships, and the healing arts. What gets me most excited about the practice is that it offers opportunities for deep experiential learning, often uncovering and clarifying wisdom that already exists within. As we move through the shapes of asana and cultivate our "somatic architecture" we bring mindfulness to how we physically organize, unwind, and reorganize. In this process we come to understand how our physicality gives rise to and is affected by our mental and emotional states. Habitual patterns surface and opportunities for learning and healing present themselves. The beauty of group yoga classes is that this intimate work gets to happen in the holding of a community. The practice can expand from intra-personal to inter-personal and healing around themes of belonging become possible.

I enjoy teaching various styles of yoga, I am an anatomy geek and love getting into the details of alignment, I think props are the coolest... but most of all I love connecting with my students and supporting their curiosity, wisdom, and empowerment.

Danielle Hanna, Masters of Ayurveda

I have studied and practiced yoga for more than half of my life and in the last decade, have turned my studies into my profession by adding in the ancient science of Ayurveda. Ayurveda is the sister science of yoga. Translated as “The Science of Life,” Ayurveda gives us a framework for living our lives attuned to the seasons, time of year, time of life and even time of day. She teaches us to care not only for the physical body, but also to take into consideration the emotional, mental and spiritual body as well. Ayurveda is best applied individually so that practices such as asana, meditation, breathing, food and exercise can be recommended according to one’s particular Nature. Just as every piece of art is unique, so are we as humans. It makes sense that what and how we practice Life would be highly individualized, and Ayurveda gives us the container and framework to do so.

Meeting with you individually we do a complete assessment and health history, taking into consideration injuries as well as aspirations and inspirations. We look at diet and lifestyle patterns and apply the lens of Ayurveda to develop habits and practices that are attuned to and aligned with your most balanced and supported self. Kate F. Busby, M.S. Oriental Medicine and Somatic Experiencing Facilitator

I interweave clear, precise alignment instruction and subtle body awareness with insights from yoga philosophy and nature-based traditions to guide my students into a deeper relationship with themselves.

I first stepped onto a yoga mat 15 years ago feeling lost, injured, and at odds with my body. Through regular practice, first in the Kundalini yoga tradition, and later in Hatha-Based traditions, I discovered that a more fulfilling connection with myself, as well as with the world around me, was possible. For the first time, I felt empowered. In 2005, after 8 years of practice, I began my study of yoga teaching. I started teaching regularly in 2008 and continue to deepen my understanding of yoga through regular trainings in anatomy, biomechanics and alignment, as well as yoga philosophy and the more subtle components of practice, including meditation and pranayama. Teachers who continue to challenge and inspire me, and who I seek to study with as often as I can, include Christina Sell, Noah Maze, Doug Keller and Dr. Douglas Brooks.
