Yoga & Aging Gently Team: Ruth (she/her) and Michael (he/him)
"Yoga teaches us to cure what need not be endured, and to endure what cannot be cured." B.K.S. Iyengar
Meet Ruth Casebeer and Michael Fernandez, your Yoga & Aging Gently team of teachers! These mature and wise teachers aim to help you realize your full potential, all the while helping you move with grace, wisdom and ease as you learn to continuously grow, even in the midst of the challenges of aging.
I came to yoga looking for a way to heal a body worn down from years of running and cycling, and what I found was that and so much more: an opportunity to heal my mind and spirit, a renewed sense of community, and a way to be of service in the world. After a long career as an engineer, I knew the next phase of my life had to involve work from the heart. After practicing at The Bhaktishop for three years it occurred to me that teaching yoga would be just that. I completed The Bhaktishop’s teacher training program in May 2017 and continue to practice and study here. I am currently working with Ruth Casebeer in the Yoga and Aging Gently class and volunteering in the community.
Some of the joys in my life that I hold dear to my heart now that I am in my sixties are both my womanhood and being an Elementary Montessori Guide. Both have taught me and still teach me the importance of self-construction and self-love. These lifelong processes have unfolded and blossomed into a devoted bhakti yoga practice that I love to share with others. I also hope that it helps them in some way to find their full potential, which is just glowing inside, and within their reach. I am a graduate of The Bhaktishop Yoga School 2009, and continue to study, learn and practice.
This class is featured twice a week, on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 2-3pm, and all are welcome. Those that are recovering from injury or illness are welcome in this class as well!
